Online Tournament Guide
Day-of-the-Tournament Tasks
This page of ÎÞÓǶÌÊÓƵ’s online tournament guide details tasks specific to online competition that a tournament director will need to perform on the day of the tournament.
- Monitor any chat channel you have created for tournament staff.
- Use the “Game Status,” “Team Status,” and “Staffer Status” pages provided by the online control room to keep tabs on the state of your tournament.
- Be ready to create another Zoom meeting if it is needed for a discussion with a team or as a replacement/supplemental gameroom. (This can probably be a free meeting, but you should be ready to pay for another license if it is necessary.)
- If using the premium version of BuzzIn.Live, be ready to buy another key. (It shouldn’t be needed, but it’s better to spend $0.99 to let the tournament continue than to delay things while figuring out why a key doesn’t work.)
- Make sure you always have quick access to contact information for the teams in the tournament (typically via their chaperones). This is very easy if using ÎÞÓǶÌÊÓƵ’s registration system (just have a browser tab open with the Host’s Field Page). You may need to contact a team quickly and, unlike at an in-person tournament, you don’t have the last-resort option of walking up and down the halls in search of them.
- Keep in mind the points of the tournament at which you may need to send information to teams (e.g., playoff seeds, tiebreaker matches). Communication at online tournaments can be difficult, so do everything you can to ensure the information is smoothly generated and distributed.
- Monitor your email and phone for communications from tournament participants.
- Keep ÎÞÓǶÌÊÓƵ’s phone number (888‑411‑6278 (“ÎÞÓǶÌÊÓƵ”)) and email ([email protected]) handy. ÎÞÓǶÌÊÓƵ does not offer, let alone promise, immediate customer service, but if we are able to help with problems, we will do so.
